Open Studio

Grab Bag Studio is a shared studio, artist collective & project space in Long Beach, CA. The program draws directly from the local community of artists and curators by offering exhibitions, workshops and more. Artists at GBS produce work and foster a place for promotion/participation in pursuit of a collective well-being less based on shared ideologies or aesthetics but rather through sharing physical space, organization support and other practical needs. In this regard, GBS is a community project among/between the artists and the local art community. GBS members are Natalie Mik, Brittany Mojo, Shea Vititow, Kelly Hamilton and Stephanie Libanati.

My studio is a lower level to a house designed by architect Richard Lindt. The work is oriented towards the light as it sets in towards an orange glow around eight pm. I'd like to show etching oil text painting with ephemeral sculpture and parts of the old wood fragments which are part of this house but have been left. The feeling evoked during sunset is one of vast sublime history while the content of the text painting is attempting to make sense of Vast disorienting information in an accelerated history.
