Emma Echenique Jo-hsin Chen Grace Eunchong Lee Katy Krantz Wares: Ceramics Traditions in Contemporary Practice features artists who use ceramics as a contemporary media by embracing its utilitarian tradition as the basis for its contemporary relevance. The vessels, boxes, and figurines in the show are unburdened by their functionality. They are often impractical, or do not function as the commonly used items they represent. The end product is then the result of a ceramic practice that seeks to address the techniques and traditions of the material, rather than make a usable object. Curated by Javier Proenza.
