The Goddess Lakshmi is on a mission. She was taking a little vacation from the Earth for a few thousand years and humans really messed everything up. But she’s back, ready to dismantle the white supremacist cis-hetero-patriarchal over-culture, and she needs your help! She wants your rage, your vulnerability, your dreams for a future of abundance and social justice. Join her and some friends for an evening of poetry and performance at the Los Angeles Valley College Art Gallery where we will lift up the voices of women and queer people of color as agents of radical social change. Bring your beautiful self and celebrate the revolutionary possibilities of femme futures or email the Goddess at firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief description of your performance, poetry, or text to get a performance/reading slot (5-10 minutes in length).
The Goddess Lakshmi will be present in one of her avatars, the artist and writer Maya Mackrandilal, for this iteration of an ongoing transdisciplinary project titled #NEWGLOBALMATRIARCHY.
Enter the campus at Oxnard Street and Campus Drive (between Fulton and Ethel). Parking Lot D is closest to the gallery. A guest parking permit is required during regular gallery hours and available from lot kiosks for $2. Free parking on the top level of the Ethel Street parking structure will be available during the event.
