The Department of Nocturnal Affairs (D.N.A.): DTLA Field Office

  • The ROW DTLA 777 South Alameda Street, Ste 136 Los Angeles, CA, 90021 United States (map)

*This event also takes place Friday August 10, 5pm - 9pm

The Department of Nocturnal Affairs (D.N.A.)
is a creative project by artists Caroline Maxwell and Tal Yizrael. The D.N.A. Office is at once a work of performance art, an artistic installation, a public outreach, an educational platform, and an archive.  The D.N.A. office collaborates with scientists and the public; it responds to and raises awareness of current scientific research on light pollution, as well as the intelligence and fragility of the nocturnal wildlife with whom we share our cities and landscapes.  The D.N.A. office encourages people to act as witnesses to the presence and behaviors of nocturnal wildlife, and to consider how nocturnal darkness and its animals play a crucial role in our collective well-being.
